not without my daughter book review

I read it a few times and learn something every time I read it. It's stunning that The author went on to help others in similar situations versus curling up in a ball and hiding out for the remainder of Moody's life. What amazes me is that Betty, in escaping her abusive husband in order to save her daughter, found her life’s calling-making global contacts, co-founding a non profit with an attorney, all dedicated to helping parents whose children were wrongfully abducted to a strange country. I simultaneously wriggled in my chair and clenched my fists as I learned of the horrors this woman and her daughter endured. Travelling to the country under the impression that they were visiting for a short while, Betty, her daughter Mahtob accompany her husband Moody. If this review was helpful, please mark it as so. There were brave Iranian citizens who facilitated her escape & if caught, would have paid with their lives. I loaned it and lost track of it, so I bought it again. I thoroughly enjoyed this harrowing but hopeful book. Again, I find it confusing that such a widely sold & translated book, that has had an enormous impact on worldwide parental abduction, isn’t available on kindle. :). I would recommend it to anyone. It is a very densely written book, full of tightly researched information, narratives from other “left behind” parents, some with happy endings, some not. This book brings that truth home in a realistic, human way. This true heart wrenching story is a testament to the power of a mothers love for her daughter. The book was nominated for Pulitzer Prize. All of us Americans should read this and be grateful that we live in such a great place with freedoms we all take for granted. In her book Not without my Daughter, Betty Mahmoody chronicles her time in Iran. I was horrified at the attitude of their men regarding their women and probably more horrified at how the women get beat by their husbands. I love this book. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. An important, eye-opening read! I love this book and I know in the future, I'll read it again.
